We were delighted to welcome Charlie Maynard, MP for Witney, to the Aspire Witney Youth Hub on Church Green. Charlie dropped in as part of a town walkabout, meeting local community groups and charities.

During his visit, Charlie met hub manager Pam and her team to hear how the hub helps young people find the right path.

Since opening in July 2023, the hub has offered one-to-one support, small group learning, help with English and maths, counselling, housing support, and guidance on education, training and employment.

Charlie said:

“With almost a million young people across the country not in education, employment or training, the work Aspire does in Witney has never been more important.”

He added:

“Pam and her team are friendly and clearly make a real difference to the futures of the young people they work with.”

Pam said:

“Here we get to daily come alongside young people who may have faced obstacles in their path – whether that be mental health, neurodiversity, disappointing grades, lack of direction – and work with them to regain the confidence, skills and aspiration they need to take up their place and thrive.

“The support offered is tailored to them as an individual and delivered in a safe and welcoming community by staff who really do care.”

Aspire has supported people facing homelessness, poverty and disadvantage since 2001. Thank you to Charlie for visiting, and to the young people and staff who made him so welcome.

The visit was covered by the Witney Gazette. Read the full article here.
