Every week, a small group of young people from the Aspire Witney Youth Hub head to the gardens at Blenheim Palace for our gardening project.
They learn new skills by getting their hands in the soil: planting, caring for seedlings and harvesting what they have grown. This week the beds were being prepared for the season ahead, and the harvest was looking bright, with crates of colourful squash and trays of chillies.
Blenheim is celebrating Halloween this week, so we took a little time out to explore the amazing decorations around the gardens. Pumpkins, hay bales and one very relaxed skeleton (with his skeleton dog) made for some great photos.
Projects like this give young people time outdoors, practical skills and a sense of achievement, all as part of a friendly group. Week by week, they get to see the results of their own work grow.
A big thank you to Blenheim Palace for welcoming us. Happy Halloween from all of us at Aspire!
