Formerly Beckett Street

New name, same support!

STRIDE is the new name for the service previously known as Beckett Street. It’s still Aspire, with the same commitment to providing safe accommodation and practical, personalised support.

Stable accommodation. Practical support. More options for the future.

STRIDE is part of Aspire’s Progression Accommodation in Oxford, alongside our HOME project. Both provide safe accommodation and personalised support for adults who have experienced, or are at risk of, homelessness.

Residents are supported to build wellbeing, confidence, skills and independence, explore education or employment, and work towards suitable long-term accommodation.

What does STRIDE offer?

Support is tailored to each resident, based on what they need to build stability and move forward.

Who is STRIDE for?

STRIDE is for adults who need housing-related support and are ready to work towards greater independence.

  • Aged 18 or over

  • Have a connection to Oxford City Council

  • Have experienced, or be at risk of, homelessness or rough sleeping

  • Need housing-related support to sustain independent accommodation, without requiring 24-hour supervision

  • Be willing to take part in activities linked to wellbeing, education, training, volunteering or work

  • Have recourse to public funds

How our support works

Residents receive personalised support based on their individual needs, goals and circumstances.

Together, we create a practical support plan covering areas such as wellbeing, daily living skills, education, employment and housing. The aim is to help each person build stability, grow in confidence and prepare for greater independence.

Moving into work won’t automatically mean losing your accommodation.

STRIDE is designed to support progression, so residents can begin employment while continuing to receive housing-related support as they prepare for their next move.

Moving on to longer-term housing

Residents are supported to plan for a suitable long-term home when the time is right.

Depending on individual circumstances, this might include social housing, private renting or other suitable housing options. Our team can help with practical steps such as searching for properties, understanding tenancies, preparing for a move and settling into a new home.

Where appropriate, residents can also receive support from Aspire’s Private Rented Sector Officer to explore private renting and build confidence in managing a tenancy.

How to access STRIDE

Referrals to STRIDE are made through the Oxford City Access Panel.

If you think STRIDE may be suitable for you, or for someone you are supporting, the Access Panel can assess housing and support needs and help identify the most appropriate accommodation.

Could your property help someone move forward?

Aspire works with landlords and property partners to provide safe, suitable homes for people moving towards greater independence.

If you have a property available, we’d be happy to talk about how working with us could help provide stable accommodation while giving you ongoing support as a landlord.

We’re interested in safe, good-quality properties that could provide suitable accommodation for people moving towards greater independence. If you’re unsure whether your property might be suitable, get in touch and we can talk it through.

Aspire provides ongoing support to residents throughout their stay. Our team works with each person on areas such as maintaining their accommodation, wellbeing, employment and preparing for a future move.

If you have a property available, or are simply interested in exploring the idea, contact us. We can explain how the arrangement works, answer any questions and discuss what might be suitable.
